Mona Dotcom, born Mona Verga, was the first wife of Kim Dotcom, a German-Finnish internet entrepreneur and political activist residing in Glenorchy, New Zealand.

Kim Dotcom and Mona Verga met in 2007 and married on July 10, 2009. Dotcom had one child from a prior relationship, born in September 2007.

With Mona, he had four children through IVF treatment. Their first child together was born in 2009, followed by their second in 2010.

Mona gave birth to twin daughters in March 2012, a month after Dotcom was released on bail from Mt Eden prison.

The couple’s relationship came to an end when Dotcom announced their separation on May 17, 2014, and filed for divorce.

Prior to the separation, Mona had stepped down from her directorial roles in the Dotcom family’s businesses.

In an interview with the NZ Herald, Mona described their relationship as a “Cinderella story,” reflecting on the contrast between the glamorous lifestyle she enjoyed with Dotcom and her challenging childhood marked by abuse and instability.

She noted that Dotcom provided her with emotional security, a significant shift from her early years. Mona also shared a quirky detail about Dotcom, revealing that he would hide bags of his favorite candy, gummi bears, around their home.
