In 2022, Clanton made headlines by winning the Azalea Invitational, one of the respected events in amateur golf. The same year, he also triumphed at the North and South Amateur held at Pinehurst Resort.

His success at Pinehurst didn’t stop there; Clanton later participated in the 2024 U.S. Open at the same venue and finished tied for 41st place.
