These tweets, which went viral on August 3, 2024, include statements defending George Zimmerman’s fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin and have sparked significant backlash.

In response, Schofield issued an apology on TikTok, but the reaction remained critical, with many labeling her posts as “racist” and “insensitive.”

Mongeau, speaking on their podcast ‘Cancelled,’ condemned Schofield’s past actions, describing the tweets as “fucked up” and “horrific.” Mongeau admitted to initially supporting Schofield but expressed regret, stating, “I’m going to beat myself up for that forever, quite frankly.”

Mongeau highlighted the importance of accountability and admitted that dismissing the tweets as past mistakes was insufficient.

She emphasized that she also has “more growing” to do and expressed hope that Schofield would use this opportunity for reflection and personal growth.

To support this commitment, Mongeau announced that she would donate the proceeds from the podcast episode and her TikTok creator fund to the Trayvon Martin Foundation, demonstrating her dedication to learning and advocacy.
