Scarface actor Ángel Salazar dies at 68

Ángel Salazar, best known for his role as ‘Chi Chi’ in the iconic film Scarface, has been found dead at the age of 68.

The actor passed away in his sleep over the weekend on 11th August 2024 while staying at a friend’s home in Brooklyn, New York.

His close friend and representative, Ann Wingsong, confirmed the news to TMZ, revealing that Salazar had been dealing with ongoing heart issues. However, the official cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Salazar’s portrayal of Chi Chi, the loyal sidekick to Al Pacino’s Tony Montana, remains one of his most memorable roles. He also appeared in films such as Punchline alongside Tom Hanks and reunited with Pacino in Carlito’s Way.

Despite his health struggles, Salazar continued to work in the film industry, most recently filming The Brooklyn Premiere, where he shared scenes with fellow Scarface actor Steven Bauer.

The news of his passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and loved ones, remembering Salazar’s talent and contributions to both film and comedy.

In addition to his acting career, Salazar was also a noted comedian, starring in several HBO specials and appearing on Last Comic Standing..
