Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, has stirred debate with his recent comments about Ghana being superior to London.

In an interview with Kojo Marfo on Abusua FM’s “Abusua Nkommo,” Wontumi revealed that he has moved his children from London to Ghana, citing better living conditions and a more enjoyable environment.

Wontumi confidently asserted, “I always say Ghana is better than London. If I say so, am I a joker, or is this a joking platform that I would say such things?”

He emphasized that Ghana’s enjoyable atmosphere and lower cost of living influenced his decision to relocate his children.

Highlighting the country’s progress, Wontumi mentioned initiatives such as free education and the Planting for Food and Jobs program.

He claimed these efforts have led to decreased food prices, stating that tomatoes now cost GH₵5.

Despite market prices reported by Kojo Marfo indicating higher costs, Wontumi remained adamant, accusing Marfo of spreading opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) propaganda.

Marfo had mentioned turning vegetarian to cope with high meat prices, which Wontumi dismissed.

“If you have now adopted a vegetarian diet, then you’re not spending a lot. As a vegetarian, you can eat pawpaw leaves, kontomire, and cassava leaves; it’s okay for you,” Wontumi responded.

He asserted that food affordability in Ghana allows him to enjoy meals like GH₵10 worth of gari and beans.

Wontumi’s statements have sparked discussion on the relative living conditions between Ghana and London.
