Noah Lyles’ time of 9.79 seconds was just enough to edge out Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson in a photo finish, with the margin of victory being five thousandths of a second.
American Fred Kerley earned the bronze medal with a 9.81-second finish and the other athletes followed closely in a very tight manner.

Many athletics fans have labelled this 2024 Paris Olympic Games 100-metres finals as the greatest ever finals as all athletes run the race in less than 10 seconds.
The anticipation to this final was very high as the United States of America and Jamaica aimed to rub shoulders in the keenly contested race.
Noah Lyles’ victory has overtaken Justin Gatlins’s winning time during the 2004 Olympic Games.
This gold medal adds to his collection, following his bronze in 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
