David Moyes, the former Everton manager, has called his stint at Manchester United the greatest regret and failure of his career.

Moyes took over at United in July 2013, following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. He began his tenure with a victory in the Community Shield against Wigan Athletic, but the season quickly soured.
Under Moyes, Manchester United had their worst-ever start to a Premier League season and ended up in seventh place, far from a Champions League spot.
He was dismissed in April 2014. Reflecting on his time with the club, Moyes admitted that failing at such a prestigious position remains his biggest career regret.
He struggled with the intense pressure and felt that many of the negative stories about him were untrue and damaging.

Moyes also noted that he attempted to maintain the successful strategies of Ferguson’s era but faced significant challenges.
Despite being reassured by the owners that he had time to turn things around, the mounting criticism and a poor transfer window made his job increasingly difficult.
He revealed that he had hoped to sign Cesc Fabregas and Gareth Bale but was unable to secure either, with Bale choosing to join Real Madrid instead.
Overall, Moyes feels that his time at United was marred by missed opportunities and high expectations that he could not meet.
