Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has publicly expressed disappointment over promises made by former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, suggesting that they have not been fulfilled.

The artist took to his X handle to address the issue, revealing that no Nigerian politician has ever given him any substantial support, including Wike.

In 2021, after Burna Boy’s album Twice as Tall won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album, Wike, who was then the Governor of Rivers State, announced a generous reward for the artist.

Wike promised Burna Boy a plot of land and a cash gift as a token of appreciation for his achievement. This gesture was part of a larger celebration organized by the state, which included a grand homecoming ceremony for the singer.

However, Burna Boy’s recent statement casts doubt on whether these promises were ever fulfilled. In his post, the artist voiced his frustration, saying: “No politician has ever given anything. Go ask Wike where the land him give me or which money him give me. You think I’m your faves.”

Wike’s office has yet to respond to Burna Boy’s allegations, and there has been no official statement regarding the status of the promised rewards.
