Waraire Boswell, the acclaimed fashion designer known for his impeccable custom suits and influential designs, has tragically passed away at the age of 48. Although the exact cause of his death has not been disclosed, a statement on his Instagram page revealed that Boswell was battling a “private battle.”

The statement from Boswell’s family began, “After a private battle, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of fashion designer, Waraire Boswell.”

The statement went on to highlight Boswell’s roles beyond fashion, noting his dedication as a father, husband, and son.

“Waraire was an enthusiastic father, a devoted husband, and a loyal son, who captured the friendships of many through his infectious personality and creative talents. Affectionately known as Boz, he is survived by his wife, Monica Boswell, and their two children, Miles and Mason, his mother, Ann Boswell, and his sister, Kasmin Boswell.”

The statement also reflected on Boswell’s philosophy toward his work, sharing his belief that creating the perfect suit was akin to life itself. “Creating the perfect suit is ironically similar to life,” Waraire would say. “Ironic because nothing in life is perfect, but similar because you can control how it fits you.”

His namesake brand, founded in 2003, was renowned for its bespoke designs and garnered a high-profile clientele, including luminaries such as JAY-Z, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick, Will Smith, DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Love, Maverick Carter, Tristan Thompson, Anderson .Paak, and Ellen DeGeneres.

In 2005, Boswell was honored with the title of Mercedes Benz Classic Designer of the Year.
