In a post on his X account, Burna Boy revealed that his willingness to participate in protests ceased on October 20, 2020, during the EndSARS movement.
Reflecting on the traumatic events of the EndSARS protests, Burna Boy cautioned his fans not to mention his name in connection with the current demonstrations. “The fight in me died on this day,” he stated, referring to the brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate.
Burna Boy reiterated his stance by quoting a previous tweet from 2020, in which he warned, “Ogun go doggy anybody who calls my name this time around,” signifying his strong reluctance to be involved in the current protests.

The ongoing protests, driven by widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the economy and governance, have seen thousands of Nigerians taking to the streets. Despite Burna Boy’s withdrawal, the movement continues to gain momentum, with many calling for accountability and systemic change.
