Nedu Wazobia Dismisses Outrage Over ‘Last Supper’ Depiction at Paris 2024 Olympics

Nigerian media personality Nedu Wazabia has expressed his frustration with the outrage over the blasphemous depiction of the Last Supper by drag queens at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.

Nedu questioned why Christians are so upset about the portrayal. He argued that since Westerners introduced Christianity to Africa, their anger towards the Olympic organizers seems misplaced.

Nedu pointed out that if Westerners choose to alter their depiction of Christian symbols, it should not be a concern for Africans.

He criticized the anger from Christians, suggesting that they should not be surprised by such changes. He noted that similar alterations have occurred in past Olympics, and he found it puzzling that people are still reacting strongly.

In his remarks, Nedu emphasized that the famous painting of the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci is not sacred in the way that some might believe, and the alterations made during the Olympics are not unprecedented.

The controversy arose when the ceremony featured drag queens, a transgender model, and a singer dressed as the Greek god of wine, leading to significant backlash from religious communities.

The Olympics spokesperson, Anne Descamps, later apologized for the depiction at a press conference.
