Mbappé, through his Coalition Capital investment fund, will invest approximately €15 million to acquire an 80% stake in Caen, reports ESPN. They will also address a portion of the club’s debt. Mbappe will replace the previous majority shareholder, American investment fund Oaktree, which acquired the same share in 2020.

The remaining 20% of the club’s capital is held by Pierre Antoine Capton, the current president of Caen’s supervisory board. Caen has been in Ligue 2 since being relegated from Ligue 1 in May 2019.

The relationship between Mbappé and Caen dates back to 2014 when a 13-year-old Mbappé almost signed for the club before choosing Monaco.
