Known as the “godfather of breakbeat,” Randall’s death was confirmed by a representative but the cause was not disclosed.

Randall, along with Fabio and Grooverider, played a significant role in transforming jungle music during the 1990s.

His journey began as a vinyl enthusiast and amateur record-scratcher, leading him to discover acid house at Notting Hill Carnival in 1987.

He then created a distinct style of breakbeat hardcore. His influence spread through pirate radio stations like Rave FM and Rinse FM, and he secured a spot on Centreforce in 1989.

In 1996, Randall co-founded Mac2 Recordings with Cool Hand Flex, a move inspired by the closing of De-Underground Records.

He also became a regular DJ at The Blue Note Club, performing alongside notable artists such as Goldie and DJ Storm. His impact on the drum & bass genre is profound, with many artists, including Andy C and Nia Archives, citing him as an influential figure.

Tributes have been pouring in on social media.

@techniquerec mourned, saying, “We’ve lost a legend today. Randall was a cornerstone of the drum & bass scene and his influence is embedded in the genre. RIP DJ Randall.”

@djfreshuk shared, “You were a major influence on me and my peers. You inspired a generation and your legacy will live on in our hearts and music. Rest in peace, my friend.”
