Patience Ozokwor Laments Over Onyeka Onwenu’s Sudden Passing

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of her colleague and Nigerian music legend, Onyeka Onwenu.

Onwenu, who had performed at the 80th birthday celebration of Emzor Pharmaceuticals CEO Stella Okolie in Lagos, reportedly collapsed afterward.

Despite being rushed to Reddington Hospital, she could not be saved.

Ozokwor, speaking about Onwenu’s death, conveyed her grief, stating that she is profoundly hurt by the loss, especially since Onwenu was not known to be ill.

She remarked on how unsettling it is to see so many people passing away suddenly and lamented the current state of stress and instability in the country.

Onyeka Onwenu began her illustrious music career in the 1980s, debuting with the album “For the Love of You” in 1981.

She went on to release numerous albums and singles, including the popular track “One Love.” Beyond her music career, Onwenu made significant contributions to Nollywood films and was recognized with various awards for her work in music, film, and politics.

As the news of her passing reverberates, figures such as Tinubu have also paid tribute, acknowledging Onwenu’s impact on the music industry and offering prayers for her soul.
