Actress and filmmaker Motilola Akinlami has issued a public apology following backlash over her critique of the historical movie “House of Ga’a,” directed by Bolanle Austen Peters.

In a now-deleted post, Motilola shared her review of the movie, which was met with criticism from fans who felt she was undermining the filmmaker’s work.

Taking to her Instagram page, Motilola clarified that her intention was not to discredit anyone’s hard work but to share her observations.

She acknowledged the skill and effort involved in creating the movie and expressed regret for any misunderstandings her comments may have caused.

In her apology, Motilola wrote:

“Apologies are in order as regards a post I did last week. After due reflection, I realized how that post may have been misconstrued to mean I was trying to bring down someone’s hard work. That, in fact, isn’t the case. It’s not in my character. I recognize the hard work and skill that went into putting together that beautiful work of Art.

I honestly didn’t mean for that to happen. Different strokes for different folks. I should have known better. My name is Motilola Akinlami, and House of Ga’a is a great movie. Have a blessed week ahead!”
