Aston Villa are making a bold move in the transfer market, reportedly preparing to spend over £50 million to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.

The report revealed last week that Villa are keen on the 24-year-old, whose exit from Atletico Madrid seems likely after being seen training alone upon his return to Madrid.

Aston Villa’s offer is significantly higher than those from Benfica and Barcelona, both of which prefer a loan deal.Aston Villa, however, are pushing for a permanent transfer.
Despite their eagerness, Aston Villa will find it difficult to over issues regarding Joao Felix’s contract and wages.
With five years left on his contract at Atletico Madrid, Joao Felix earns over £250,000 a week, a figure Villa cannot match. Instead, Aston Villa are proposing a package worth £150,000 a week, including bonuses.
Joao Felix will have to lower his wage and accept Aston Villa’s offer before this deal will fall through.
