During the qualifying rounds, Biles showcased an impressive performance, starting with a stellar routine on the beam, scoring 14.733. However, while warming up for the floor exercise, she appeared to injure her lower leg.

Despite the setback, Biles continued the competition, favoring her left leg. She finished at the top of the all-around leaderboard with a score of 59.566, the highest international score this Olympic cycle.

Biles also secured the No. 1 spot on vault with a score of 15.300 and floor exercise with 14.600. She ranked second on beam and eighth on uneven bars with scores of 14.733 and 14.433, respectively.

Following the event, Biles’ coach, Cecile Landi, confirmed that Biles had “felt a little something in her calf,” but withdrawing from the competition was never considered.

Landi noted that Biles felt better as the meet progressed, and there are currently no concerns about her ability to compete for the remainder of the Games.
