Despite funds being allocated for its expansion, SDK notes that little improvement has been made.
In his tweets, SDK highlighted various issues with the motorway. He mentioned that the sides were cleared for the expansion project, but the area has since become overgrown with bushes again, indicating a halt in work.
SDK also pointed out that despite taking IMF money for the expansion, no significant progress has been seen.
SDK expressed concerns about the persistent potholes and lack of street lighting, which continue to pose safety risks for drivers.

His comments reflect the feelings of many Ghanaians who are sceptical about the motorway’s reconstruction and expansion into a 10-lane highway.
This project, which began in January 2024, aims to transform the 19.5-kilometre stretch from the Tetteh Quarshie roundabout to the Tema roundabout.
However, the slow progress and current state of the motorway have left many questioning the effectiveness of the project management and the use of the allocated funds.
SDK’s public outcry is part of a larger conversation about infrastructure development in Ghana, as his concerns resonate with many people.
