The autopsy, ordered by Ms. T.A. Shotobi, Magistrate of the Coroner Court, took place on July 19 and 20. This step is part of an ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s passing.
In a statement issued by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, it was confirmed that the family will also conduct toxicology and histology tests on the samples if the autopsy does not reveal conclusive results.

The second autopsy follows a court order from June 26, 2024, which authorized Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to arrange an independent autopsy by a licensed pathologist. The court required Mr. Aloba to cover all expenses related to the examination.

The procedure, carried out last Friday, was closely observed by Mr. Joseph Aloba, the appointed forensic pathologist and his team, along with Aloba’s legal representatives. Wunmi Aloba, the deceased’s wife, was also represented by her legal team and pathologist.
The Coroner Court has stressed its dedication to a thorough and transparent investigation, aiming to resolve the case and ensure justice. Updates will be provided as the second phase of the investigation progresses.
Mohbad passed away under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023. An earlier pathologist, appointed on May 15, reported that the cause of death could not be determined due to decomposition before the test was conducted.
