Nigerian filmmaker Dabby Chimere has revealed the star-studded cast for her highly anticipated film Adanne, a movie which promises to delve into the intricate and often uncomfortable stories of family dynamics and sisterhood.

The film will feature Big Brother Africa alumni Lilian Afegbai in the lead role. Joining her are notable personalities such as Tacha Akinde (popularly known as Simply Tacha) from Big Brother Naija, along with seasoned actors Shaffy Bello, Ik Ogbonna, and Alex Ekubo.
Written by Francis Uzoma Disney, Adanne explores the complex relationship between two sisters, Adanne and Ijeoma. After Adanne makes a significant sacrifice to ensure Ijeoma’s success, she is abandoned by her sister following Ijeoma’s marriage to a wealthy man. Left with no other options, Adanne turns to stripping to make ends meet.

On Instagram, Dabby Chimere expressed her excitement about the film and its themes. “Adanne is an exciting story about familial love and sisterhood. This gripping tale of unconditional love, devastating betrayal, and loyalty will keep you on the edge of your seat. We will see if a sister’s bond can survive the test of time,” she wrote.
Chimere also conveyed her gratitude to the cast and crew. “Thankful for the opportunity to tell this amazing story with these beautiful talents. I believe in me. Believe in yourself too. God is Able,” she added.
Chimere, who gained recognition for her directorial work on Head Over Bills—released on Prime Video on February 4, 2024—continues to build her impressive filmography. Head Over Bills followed the Ofili sisters whose reckless behaviors nearly jeopardized their inheritance. Other notable projects by Chimere include Rush Hour, Enough, Flaws, and Lighthouse, all of which have made waves on Prime Video’s Top 10 Movies in Nigeria list.
With an exceptional cast and a compelling narrative, Adanne is set to be a cinematic exploration of the trials and tribulations within familial bonds.
