15-Year-Old Boy Rene Graham Shot Dead in Ladbroke Grove Park

Rene Graham, a 15-year-old boy, was fatally shot in Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park in Ladbroke Grove, west London, on Sunday, July 21 2024 evening.

Emergency services arrived at the scene around 19:20 BST. At the time of the shooting, a pre-carnival event for children was reportedly taking place in the park.

Arrests and Police Response

Four men, aged 20, 21, 21, and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that there were no other injuries reported.

Det Ch Supt Christina Jessah expressed that the police understand the community’s shock and concern and are using all available resources to identify those responsible.

Community Reaction

Local residents are expressing shock, disbelief, and fear, especially among parents. Cristina Cortinas, a local resident, described the shooting as a “tragedy” and expressed her concerns for her own children and the safety of the community.

Joe Powell, MP for Kensington and Bayswater, called the incident “horrific” and urged an end to senseless violence.

Official Statements

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said he is heartbroken by the incident and remains in regular contact with the Metropolitan Police, who are working tirelessly on the investigation. The Met Police have promised a “significant police presence” in the area to offer reassurance and support to residents.
