On Sunday, Colorado Governor Jared Polis publicly supported Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee, following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he was ending his reelection campaign and backing Harris.

Polis shared his endorsement on social media, expressing his enthusiasm for Harris’s vision of hope and progress.
Earlier in the day, Polis had hinted at his endorsement with a cryptic tweet featuring a coconut, a palm tree, and an American flag—symbols related to a popular meme about Harris.
The endorsement from Polis was part of a broader show of support from Colorado Democrats, including Secretary of State Jena Griswold, U.S. Representatives Diana DeGette, Joe Neguse, Jason Crow, Brittany Pettersen, and Yadira Caraveo, as well as U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper.

Democratic delegates also voiced strong support for Harris, with former state Rep. Joe Salazar and state Rep. Meg Froehlich noting a unified sentiment in a state party meeting.
Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race, announced in a social media letter, came amid mounting concerns about his campaign viability after a poor debate performance against Donald Trump.
Colorado Democrats expressed gratitude for Biden’s service and his decision to endorse Harris. Bennet praised Biden for enabling a transition to a new leader, while Hickenlooper highlighted the significant impact of Biden’s presidency.
Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert called for Biden to resign immediately if he could no longer run for office. The Democratic presidential nomination process will continue with a virtual roll call in August.
