Rachel Minaya, Wife of Yankees Executive Omar, Found Dead at New Jersey Home

Rachel Minaya, the wife of former Mets general manager and current Yankees executive Omar Minaya, was found dead at their New Jersey home on Saturday, July 20 2024.

The cause of death has been confirmed as not related to suicide.

Omar Minaya was not at home at the time of his wife’s death. The couple had two adult sons, Justin and Teddy.

Justin is currently a forward with the Portland Trail Blazers and has been competing with their summer league team in Las Vegas.

Omar Minaya, who began his role as a senior adviser to Yankees general manager Brian Cashman in early 2023, previously served as the Mets’ general manager from 2004 to 2010.

He also worked with the Montreal Expos before their move to Washington, the Texas Rangers, and the San Diego Padres.

The Minayas’ relationship began in 1989 when they met at a Manhattan hair salon, leading to an engagement in Italy within a year.
