In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, July 15, Ablakwa criticized the ministers for their perceived inaction and disrespect towards citizens.

He argued that the ongoing strike by labor unions could have been avoided if the ministers had acted differently.

Ablakwa’s post read, “Today’s historic nationwide strike by all labor unions would have been avoided but for intransigence, belligerence, lawlessness, utter disrespect for citizens and unbridled taste for state capture.”

He also demanded the immediate dissolution of the boards and management of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) following their controversial decision to sell a 60% stake in SSNIT hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong. The sale has since been canceled.

“The board and management of SSNIT and the NPRA should immediately be dissolved! The Employment Minister and the Agric Minister should subsequently be fired!” Ablakwa stated.

The labor unions announced the strike after an emergency meeting over the proposed hotel sale. Rock City Hotel has withdrawn its bid, and SSNIT has halted the sale, promising to focus on the trust’s sustainability.
