Actress Shannen Doherty, renowned for her roles in “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed,” passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the age of 53.

Her publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed that Doherty died from cancer, surrounded by her loved ones and her dog, Bowie.
Doherty’s acting career spanned over four decades. She gained fame as Brenda Walsh on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” which followed the lives of Beverly Hills teenagers.
Her performance earned her several award nominations. Doherty reprised her role in a 2008 reboot of the series, portraying a grown-up Brenda.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015, Doherty underwent a mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy. She was in remission by 2017, but the cancer returned in 2019 and later spread to her brain and bones.
Despite the progression of the disease, Doherty remained open about her battle, sharing updates on social media. In a November 2023 interview with People magazine, she expressed her determination to continue living and creating.

Born in Memphis, Doherty began her acting career as a child, appearing in shows like “Voyagers” and “Little House on the Prairie.” Her film debut came in 1985 with “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” and she gained further recognition for her role in the 1988 film “Heathers.”
Doherty also starred in “Charmed,” portraying one of three witch sisters, and appeared in “North Shore” and “Mallrats.” In addition to her acting career, she was known for her activism and her book, “Badass,” which encouraged young women to live confidently.
She was married twice before her marriage to photographer Kurt Iswarienko in 2011. In the 2010s, Doherty appeared on reality TV shows including “Dancing with the Stars” and the U.S. version of “Strictly Come Dancing.”
