Nunez was very upset after the game. He was seen climbing over railings and going into the crowd to confront some Colombia fans. Other people tried to hold him back.

The trouble started near where the Uruguay players’ families were sitting. Other Uruguay players got involved too. Team captain José María Giménez said they were trying to protect their families because there weren’t any police around.
Giménez blamed the problem on a few drunk people who didn’t know how to behave. After the fight, Nunez was seen hugging his son on the field, which was very different from the earlier chaos.

CONMEBOL, the group in charge of South American football, said they strongly disagree with what happened. They’re going to look into it more. They said there’s no place for people to be mean or violent in football.
This all happened after Uruguay lost 1-0 to Colombia, which means they won’t play in the Copa America final against Argentina on Monday. Nunez played in the game but didn’t score any goals. He hasn’t said anything publicly about the fight yet.
