Already the youngest footballer to play at a Euros or World Cup, Lamine Yamal became the youngest scorer at either tournament with an extraordinary goal in Tuesday night’s semi-final in Munich.

With Spain 1-0 down, Lamine Yamal curled an unstoppable 25-yard shot in off the post after cutting inside a bewildered Rabiot, who had attempted to unsettle the 16-year-old during a pre-game press conference.

After his goal helped Spain come back to win 2-1, Yamal looked straight into the TV camera at full-time and said: “Speak now. Speak now.”

Talking to reporters before the match, Adrien Rabiot had said, “It is always complicated to manage a semi-final in a tournament like that. But it will be up to us to put the pressure on him and not let him feel comfortable.”

Lamine Yamal responded on Instagram: “Move in silence. Only speak when it’s time to say checkmate.”
