Neil Clabo, a former punter for the University of Tennessee who made his mark in the NFL, passed away at 71. According to his family, Clabo died on Wednesday morning after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Clabo’s football journey began at Farragut High School, where he showcased his exceptional punting skills. His talent earned him a place at the University of Tennessee (UT), where he continued to excel on the field.

Clabo’s performance at UT paved the way for his entry into the NFL, where he played for the Minnesota Vikings. His professional career spanned three years, culminating in his retirement after the 1977 season.
Despite his challenges later in life, Clabo’s sister, Jill, shared that he maintained a positive outlook and cherished his time with friends and family. “Neil truly enjoyed his time here on earth. He loved his friends and family immensely and would give you the shirt off his back,” Jill said, reflecting on her brother’s generous and kind-hearted nature.
