Addressing the media in Accra on Sunday, July 7, 2024, Mahama emphasized his commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.

“If you agree to serve, you must serve and not engage in other side businesses or activities. Anybody serving in my government will not be allowed to buy a state asset,” he affirmed.

Mahama underscored that this policy applies to all forms of state properties, including vehicles, buildings, lands, and more. He stressed that his administration will depart from past practices, focusing instead on cutting wastage and promoting modesty among political appointees.

“We will eliminate opulence and introduce a code of conduct for public appointees, emphasizing modesty and humility in their service,” Mahama stated. He emphasized that serving in government should be viewed as an opportunity to serve the people, not to wield power over them.

“Our political appointees should exhibit modesty, humility, and openness to the people,” Mahama continued. He expressed his intention to uphold a higher standard of service, particularly aimed at improving the lives of young people and ensuring accountable governance.
