Dietmar Hamann Claims Jude Bellingham Ban Could Be Blessing In Disguise For England in Euros

Dietmar Hamann believes that Jude Bellingham’s potential suspension for his celebration during England’s 2-1 win over Slovakia at Euro 2024 could be a blessing in disguise for the Three Lions.

Jude Bellingham scored a stunning bicycle kick to propel England into extra time, where Harry Kane secured the victory with a header.

However, UEFA launched an investigation after allegations that Bellingham made a crude gesture towards the Slovakia bench. Bellingham insisted it was an inside joke with friends in the stadium.

While a ban on Jude Bellingham seems unlikely, Hamann suggested such a sanction could benefit England.

The German, who played for Liverpool from 1999 to 2006, had previously advocated for dropping the Real Madrid star.

Dietmar Hamann said, “Gareth Southgate should have made the decision earlier to take out Bellingham or Phil Foden. Now he may be forced to be lucky if Bellingham is suspended. If he has to sit out, that might even be a blessing. That might even help the team. Something has to happen.”
