Kumawood actor Joseph Osei, known as Wayoosi, has explained why he left the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His decision stemmed from his interactions with the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also called NAPO.
Wayoosi supported NAPO during his campaign for the Member of Parliament (MP) seat for the Manhyia South constituency.
He helped by contacting delegates to secure votes for NAPO, playing a significant role in the minister’s election success. However, after NAPO was elected, Wayoosi felt neglected and unappreciated for his efforts.
In an interview with Zionfelix, Wayoosi shared his disappointment. He noted that NAPO’s communication with him decreased after the election, making him feel disregarded.

Wayoosi said he first got involved with the NPP through NAPO, who asked for his help during the campaign. He reached out to delegates to persuade them to support NAPO.
But once NAPO became an MP, their conversations became very brief, and NAPO often seemed too busy to talk.
Feeling unneeded and overlooked, Wayoosi lost interest in the NPP and decided to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.
His comments surfaced amid rumors that Dr. Bawumia might choose NAPO as the NPP’s running mate for the 2024 elections.
