This arrest followed a false cry for help by a social media user who claimed she and her friend were booked for an event but ended up in a ritual attempt. She said she escaped, but her friend was held hostage.
During efforts to rescue the allegedly captive woman, Zfancy admitted the whole incident was a prank meant to regain his fame after a year-long break.
The police confirmed his arrest and stressed their commitment to the safety of Nigerian citizens. They also warned against actions that could cause public panic.
The police, through the National Cybercrime Centre, arrested Zfancy, whose real name is Ubani Zion Chibuike, at an apartment in Wuye, Abuja.

This came after videos circulated on social media accusing him of serious crimes, including rape, which caused significant alarm.
Zfancy later revealed that these videos were staged to revive his popularity. However, the police emphasized that such actions have serious consequences and cannot be tolerated.
The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to public safety and ensuring individuals are accountable for acts that incite fear or disrupt peace.
They cautioned pranksters and content creators to follow the law and be mindful of content that could threaten public security. The public is urged to stay calm as legal actions proceed in this case.
