In a chat on the 90’s Baby Show, Simi explained that she feels happy when she sees men being open about their feelings instead of hiding them. She believes it’s good for men to show their softer side and not always try to act tough.

Simi mentioned that many men she knows feel like they have to be strong all the time. She’s noticed that when both men and women are going through hard times, men often say they need to be strong for their families.

While Simi thinks this can be okay, she doesn’t believe that being strong means you can’t cry or show your feelings. The singer likes it when men cry because it shows they feel safe enough to be themselves.

She thinks it’s good when men can let their guard down and show their true feelings. Simi has seen many African men try to always be the brave protector and provider for their families.

But she warns that if men don’t let their emotions out by crying, those feelings get bottled up inside. She worries that one day, all those hidden feelings might come out all at once in a bad way.

By sharing these thoughts, Simi is encouraging men to be more open with their emotions. She believes that showing feelings, including crying, is a sign of strength, not weakness.

In her own words,

“I find it beautiful when men cry because I’m surrounded by many men who feel they have to be macho or strong all the time.

“When you see men and women going through the same pain, the man often says, ‘I have to be strong for my wife or kids.’ I think that’s okay, but I don’t think strength means not being vulnerable or crying.

“I like it when men cry because it means that you feel safe with who you are with, you can be vulnerable, and you can let go. I have seen African men act like they are the warrior, protector, and provider. But if it’s not coming out in your tears, it’s going inside your heart, and one day you are just going to explode.”
