Dr. Opoku Prempeh has reportedly been chosen by NPP flagbearer Dr. Bawumia pending approval from the party’s National Council.

This decision follows discussions between Dr. Bawumia and the party’s parliamentary leadership, where the majority expressed support for NAPO’s candidacy.

Confirming this development, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, leader of the Majority in Parliament, stated, “Our respected colleague, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is his choice for Running Mate. The caucus has shown positive feedback towards his selection, pending the National Council’s confirmation.”

However, on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Kwesi Pratt shared his reservations about NAPO’s suitability for the role. He expressed doubts about NAPO’s ability to effectively complement Dr. Bawumia, emphasizing that if he had the authority to decide, his choice might differ.

“If I were the one choosing, I probably would choose a different person, but I don’t have the authority,” Pratt remarked during the interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi.

The National Council is scheduled to convene to finalize the decision, amidst varying opinions within the party regarding NAPO’s candidacy for Vice President in the upcoming 2024 elections.
