The beauty contest took place on Saturday night at a theater called the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts in Richardson, USA.

Addo-Yobo’s win is special because she’s the first person born outside the United States to become Miss Texas. She was born in Ghana but grew up in Canada and the USA. She studied at the University of Texas at Dallas and got a degree in psychology in 2020.
As the winner, Addo-Yobo will get $20,000 for her education. She will also represent Texas in the Miss America contest. After winning, she shared a message on Instagram saying she felt humble, honored, and thankful to be the 87th Miss Texas. She hopes to keep making history with the people of Texas.

Before this big win, Addo-Yobo was Miss Dallas in 2023 and also took part in the contest as Miss Southlake this year. She shared that when she was younger, she missed out on many chances because she wasn’t a U.S. citizen. She finally became a citizen in 2022.
Addo-Yobo used the contest to talk about something important to her: autism awareness. She did a spoken word performance about this topic.
It’s close to her heart because her younger brother, Andrew, was diagnosed with autism when he was four years old. As someone who moved to the USA, her brother had to overcome many challenges.

Addo-Yobo wants to make autism safety, awareness, and education a bigger part of programs and laws. She has started something called The SPARK Project to help with the problems her brother has faced because of autism.
She wants to speak up for people with autism and make sure that lawmakers and community members understand and support them.
Winning this contest has made Addo-Yobo even more determined to use her new position to help others. She wants to make sure that people with autism are heard and treated fairly.
