Indiana State Police executed a search warrant at the Muir’s home, leading to the arrests. Daniel Muir faces charges of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and obstruction of justice, a felony.

Kristen Muir faces a charge of obstruction of justice. The son, Bryson Muir, is reported to be “safe and well” and is now in the custody of the Cass County Department of Child Services, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Steven Glass.

The incident began when Bryson’s grandmother, Cheryl Wright, reported to Garfield Heights police in Ohio on June 16 that her grandson was allegedly being abused.

Wright mentioned seeing injuries on Bryson’s face, including a black eye and a busted lip, and she claimed that Bryson attributed these injuries to his father.

Following the report, Indiana State Police issued a statewide Silver Alert when Daniel and Kristen Muir initially failed to cooperate with authorities, leading to concerns for Bryson’s safety and well-being.

The Muirs eventually agreed to meet with police but withdrew an hour before the scheduled meeting.

Upon executing the search warrant at the Muirs’ residence, which involved multiple law enforcement units including SWAT teams and K-9 units, Bryson Muir was located unharmed.

Indiana State Police described the operation as peaceful and ensured the safety of everyone involved.

The Muir family resides on a property known as “Straitway Goshen,” affiliated with the religious group Straitway Truth Ministry, which promotes communal living.

Daniel Muir purchased the property in 2020 and has been involved in its development, occasionally posting updates on social media about construction projects.

Daniel Muir, who played for the Colts from 2008 to 2011, has not commented publicly on the recent events. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Bryson Muir’s alleged abuse and the actions of his parents remains ongoing.

The Muirs are currently in custody pending further legal proceedings related to the charges against them.
