In an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo program, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Okyeame Kwame discussed his current non-partisan collaboration on a World Bank-sponsored climate project.
He emphasized the importance of continuing such work regardless of political leadership.
While Okyeame Kwame hinted at a potential future in politics, he criticized the current electoral process, particularly the practice where aspiring parliamentarians vie for support from party delegates through financial and material incentives.
He labeled this practice as a hindrance to national progress and likened it to bribery, creating a barrier to combating corruption effectively.

He coined the term “Political Investment Recuperation Programme (PIRP),” highlighting the financial disparity between campaign expenditures and parliamentary salaries, questioning the motives behind entering politics.
The rapper-turned-advocate called for immediate reforms, especially regarding presidential powers outlined in Ghana’s Constitution.
He specifically targeted the executive’s authority to appoint key officials such as the Inspector General of Police, Attorney General, Chief Justice, and other chief executive officers.
Okyeame Kwame argued that such appointments undermine checks and balances within Ghana’s democracy, potentially influencing judicial independence.
He stressed that Ghana’s leadership challenges are more about discipline than vision, emphasizing the need for effective execution of visionary plans already in place.
