Olivia Smith’s transfer marks the highest fee Liverpool Women have ever paid, surpassing their previous record of £100,000 for Sophie Roman Huag from Roma last summer.
Olivia Smith, who has 19 senior caps for Canada, impressed at Sporting CP with 16 goals in 28 appearances.

Olivia Smith’s addition to Liverpool Women is seen as a strong statement of intent as the club aims to build on last season’s fourth-place finish in the FA Women’s Super League.
Expressing her excitement, Olivia Smith said, “I absolutely love it and I’m super-excited. It’s a prestigious club, and it’s very cool to actually be a part of this thing and get this opportunity.”
Smith is eager to contribute to Liverpool’s ambitions, particularly their goal of securing a Champions League spot.
“I definitely feel like I can contribute to the players and the team,” she added. “I’m very excited to learn and grow under Matt.”
