The 31-year-old participated in Monday, July 1 2024 hearing at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court via video-link from custody, where he has been held since breaching bail in April 2024.
According to court proceedings, the incident occurred on March 25 when the victim called emergency services reporting concerns about Pledger’s mental state.
The call abruptly ended with the victim stating “he’s coming.” Police arrived shortly after to find the woman on the floor with injuries including bruises, lacerations, and signs of strangulation. She was hospitalized overnight for observation.

Pledger had been released on bail with the condition of undergoing a mental health assessment at Royal Melbourne Hospital. However, delays in the assessment process led to Pledger leaving the hospital, resulting in an arrest warrant.
The actor, who portrayed Mason Morgan in Home and Away, began his acting career in childhood commercials and gained prominence in shows like Silversun before his role in the soap opera.
His legal team mentioned his mental health decline following a career setback, which involved missing out on a role in a major U.S. show and subsequently turning to drug use.
The court acknowledged previous unreported attacks by Pledger on the victim and scheduled sentencing for July 3 on charges including assault and recklessly causing injury.
