The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has cleared Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan of an anti-doping rule violation.

Amusan, the world record holder in the 100m hurdles, was initially charged with a violation due to “whereabouts failures” – having missed three drug tests within a 12-month period.
As a result, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) provisionally suspended her in July 2023.

However, the AIU’s disciplinary tribunal panel later overturned this suspension just before the World Championships in Budapest last year, where Amusan finished sixth.
Amusan, the 2022 world champion, has consistently denied using any performance-enhancing substances.

In its decision, CAS stated that its panel unanimously determined Amusan had committed two filing failures, but did not confirm the existence of a third missed test, which would have constituted a “whereabouts failure.”

Consequently, CAS rejected the appeals filed by World Athletics and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and confirmed that Amusan did not commit an anti-doping rule violation.
Amusan expressed her relief on Instagram, posting “It’s ALL GOD” alongside the court’s announcement.
This clears the way for Amusan to compete at the upcoming Paris Olympics, where she is considered a top contender. She broke the world record during the semi-final race at the 2022 World Championships.
