Veteran Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, was laid to rest in his hometown of Amuri in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State on June 28, 2024.

Viral videos circulating on social media captured the solemn moment as pallbearers carried his casket to the cemetery for burial.

Family members, mourners, and members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) were in attendance to pay their final respects to the beloved actor.

Mr. Ibu being laid to rest

The burial ceremony for Mr. Ibu, who passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62 after a prolonged illness, will conclude on Sunday, June 30, with a church thanksgiving service for family members, friends, and sympathizers.

The family had previously announced the funeral arrangements in April, stating that the late actor would be buried in his hometown. The statement provided details of the final rites, ensuring fans and well-wishers were informed of the schedule.

Mr. Ibu, known for his comedic roles and significant contributions to Nollywood, is survived by his wife and three children.
