While the club might have considered a different package, they did not make an offer after initial discussions.
Anthony Gordon, currently with England at the Euro 2024 tournament, might have had a medical in Leipzig if there had been progress.
Newcastle needs to sell before June 30 to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules, or risk a Premier League points deduction. Although reluctant, selling Anthony Gordon was considered as an option.
Despite being happy at St. James’ Park and enjoying working under Eddie Howe, Anthony Gordon was aware of the discussions.
