Lamine Yamal has opened up about his decision to decline a spot in Spain’s Olympic squad for the 2024 Paris Games.

Lamine Yamal is currently competing with the Spanish national football team at Euro 2024 but was also offered the chance to play in Paris.
Lamine Yamal’s Barcelona teammates, Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, and Fermin Lopez, have been included in the Olympic squad, but Yamal chose to prioritize his career longevity.

The youngster explained that the decision was left to him by Barcelona, and he believed it was not the right time to participate in the Olympics.
“The Olympics are one of the biggest things you can play, but I have a significant load of minutes. I want to have a long career and I would be very angry with myself if something happened to me this year while doubling,” Yamal said.
Lamine Yamal’s choice will likely be welcomed by Barcelona fans, as he has become a regular starter for them.
