Ghanaian artist and filmmaker M3nsa has openly criticized the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), highlighting what he perceives as a significant lack of support and recognition for local musicians within the industry.

Speaking on 3FM Drive, M3nsa expressed his frustration with the challenges artists face in securing adequate funding for their projects.
He particularly pointed out his own struggles while attempting to raise funds for his BONDZIE album and other creative endeavors.
“We approached MUSIGA for funding, and despite following their process, we received a response only after our project had already been launched,” M3nsa revealed during the conversation.
This delay in support from MUSIGA left M3nsa feeling unsupported and highlighted systemic issues within the organization meant to assist and advocate for musicians in Ghana.

Even within his personal circles, M3nsa noted a reluctance among family members to contribute to his crowdfunding efforts, despite being aware of his ongoing musical ventures.
Reflecting on the broader challenges faced by artists in Ghana, M3nsa emphasized the often thankless nature of pursuing a music career in the country. “It’s tough, and sometimes even family members require convincing. It shouldn’t be that way,” he lamented.
M3nsa’s candid remarks underscore the ongoing struggles for recognition and support within the Ghanaian music industry, calling for systemic changes to better serve the needs of local artists.
