Bidzina Ivanishvili Gifts £8.4M to Georgian Team for Advancing to Knockout Stages, Vows to Double Reward if Spain is Defeated

Georgia’s national football team has received a huge reward of £8.4 million from their former prime minister and billionaire, Bidzina Ivanishvili.

This reward came after the team reached the knockout stage of Euro 2024.

Competing in their first-ever major tournament, Georgia seemed likely to exit in the group stage. They were at the bottom of the table before their final match against Portugal.

However, the team pulled off a remarkable victory, defeating Portugal 2-0. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli scored the first goal in the first half, and Georges Mikautadze secured the win with a second goal in the second half.

According to the Georgian Times, Ivanishvili has promised the national team £8.4 million, equivalent to 30 million Georgian Lari.

Their next match will be against Spain in the last-16 of the tournament. Ivanishvili has also pledged an additional £8.4 million if they manage to defeat Spain and advance to the next stage.

In a statement, Ivanishvili expressed his gratitude to the players, the coaching staff, and the fans for this historic achievement.

He mentioned that the national team will be awarded 30 million Georgian Lari and will receive another 30 million GEL if they win their next match against Spain. Ivanishvili thanked everyone involved for making this dream victory possible.
