George was born in 2003 in Monthey, Switzerland and grew up there before moving to France to play for Élan Chalon’s youth teams. He had a significant growth spurt in high school, going from 5’8″ to 6’7″.

At age 13, George played for the Switzerland men’s national under-16 basketball team. George’s father, Deon, is from Canada and played professional basketball in Switzerland.

Deon scored 1,288 points at St. Francis (PA) from 1990-94 before playing professionally abroad. Kyshawn’s mother, Sophie, is of unknown nationality.

As a freshman at the University of Miami in the 2023-24 season, George started 16 out of 31 games, averaging 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He shot an impressive 40.8% from the 3-point line.

At 6’8″ with a 6’10” wingspan, George has excellent size and length for a wing player. He is a skilled ball-handler and passer with natural guard instincts.

George is also an effective shooter, though his mechanics are a bit slow, which could limit his ability to create his own shot at the NBA level. Defensively, he uses his size well to disrupt passing lanes and protect the rim.

The Wizards selected George 24th overall, believing he can develop into a versatile two-way wing capable of guarding multiple positions. While he may not be an immediate impact player, his upside as a 3-and-D wing has teams excited about his long-term potential.

As a 2024 first-round draft pick, George’s rookie scale contract with the Wizards is projected to be around $2.3 million in the first year, $2.4 million in the second year, and increasing in the third and fourth years. However, the exact details of his contract have not been reported.
