Hennessy Cypher 2024 Unites Khaligraph Jones, Sarkodie, and Other Top Hip-Hop Artists from Africa

The highly anticipated Hennessy Africa Cypher 2024, released in late June, is an 8-minute showcase of unique rap styles and impressive wordplay.

Set in Lagos, Nigeria, a hub of African musical talent, the Cypher features six prominent rappers: Maglera Doe Boy, Didi B, Young Lunya, Khaligraph Jones, Ladipoe, and Sarkodie.

Each artist brings their distinct style and lyrical skill to this dynamic collaboration.

Julie Nollet, Hennessy’s global Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized that the Cypher is about more than just rap; it’s about poetry, community, inspiration, and creativity, supporting those perfecting their craft.

South African rapper Maglera Doe Boy delivers thought-provoking verses, following the success of his debut project, Diaspora, in 2022. He also features on a new single by rapper K.O, “Let Me Cook.”

Ivorian rapper Didi B, the first Francophone artist in the Cypher, uses local Creole to narrate the experiences of Ivorian youth. His album, Before Olympia, was released in February 2024.

Hennessy Cypher 2024

Nigerian rapper Ladipoe showcases his lyrical excellence with his latest track, “Hallelujah,” released in April 2024. Ghana’s Sarkodie, the most awarded hip-hop artist in Africa, dropped his “Championship Mixtape” in May 2024.

Tanzania’s Young Lunya, the first Tanzanian hip-hop artist signed by Sony Music Entertainment Africa, raps in Kiswahili, captivating audiences. Kenya’s Khaligraph Jones adds his unique style and powerful lyrics.

The Cypher highlights the diversity and innovation of African hip-hop. Hennessy has a long history of supporting hip-hop culture, having been mentioned in over 4,000 songs.

This year’s Cypher, set at a train station in Lagos, symbolizes travel and the next journey for these rappers, with plans to feature it on major streaming platforms.

The Hennessy Africa Cypher 2024 is expected to ignite discussions among fans and continue supporting the African hip-hop industry.
