In a statement dated June 26, 2024, and issued by Bobby Banson of the Robert Smith Law Group, it was emphasized that reports circulating in mainstream and social media regarding the dismissal of their client’s appeal by the Court of Appeal are inaccurate and misleading.
“These reports falsely suggest that the Court of Appeal rejected Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng’s appeal against the High Court’s ruling of May 2, 2023, which dismissed an application for contempt against Ablakwa,” the statement clarified.

The lawyers highlighted specific inaccuracies in the reporting, particularly pointing out a misleading headline on myjoyonline.com, which stated that the Court of Appeal had thrown out an application filed by Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng related to the National Cathedral project.
“We wish to clarify that these reports are entirely baseless and do not reflect the actual proceedings before the Court of Appeal on either June 25 or June 26, 2024,” the statement continued.
The lawyers reiterated that contrary to misleading reports, no application was filed at the Court of Appeal or any other court to restrain Ablakwa from discussing the National Cathedral project.
Furthermore, the appeal against the contempt ruling has not been struck out or dismissed; it is still pending a substantive hearing by the Court of Appeal.
“The public is urged to disregard any misleading publications that do not accurately reflect the official proceedings of the Court of Appeal,” the statement concluded, emphasizing the need for accurate reporting on legal matters affecting their client.
