Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly criticized Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asserting that he lacks the credibility required to lead Ghana as President.

In a recent statement, Kwetey argued that Dr Bawumia, as a central figure in the current government, bears responsibility for its failures and cannot distance himself from the administration’s shortcomings.
He specifically called out the NPP government for its alleged mishandling of the economy and its reluctance to apologize to Ghanaians for the resulting crisis.
Kwetey highlighted what he sees as inconsistencies in Dr Bawumia’s promises of transformative changes across key sectors, juxtaposing these pledges against the government’s perceived inability to address ongoing challenges.
This, according to Kwetey, reflects a lack of political will and competence on Bawumia’s part.

Speaking on Channel One TV, Kwetey expressed disbelief at Dr Bawumia’s ongoing assurances of future reforms despite what he characterized as a failure to tackle current issues effectively.
He described this pattern as a clear indicator of incompetence, questioning Bawumia’s preparedness to implement necessary reforms if elected President.
In contrast, Kwetey praised the credibility and track record of the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama. He pointed to Mahama’s past achievements and his demonstrated commitment to fulfilling promises, which he argued stand in stark contrast to Dr Bawumia’s unmet assurances.
Kwetey urged Ghanaian voters to consider the candidates’ credibility and accomplishments, advocating for Mahama’s leadership over Bawumia’s based on what he perceives as Mahama’s proven ability to deliver on his commitments.
He concluded by emphasizing the need for leadership characterized by integrity and honor, qualities that he believes Mahama embodies and that, in his view, Dr Bawumia lacks.
