The legal action comes in response to Kanayo’s public criticism of Angel Unigwe on June 21, 2024, where he accused her of failing to fulfill obligations under a production contract they had negotiated.
Kanayo also claimed that Angel’s mother has a history of prematurely removing her daughter from film sets, disrupting production processes.
In a press statement posted on Angel Unigwe’s Instagram page, Juliet Kings Unigwe vehemently denied these accusations, labeling them as false and malicious.
She emphasized their commitment to honoring contractual agreements and expressed deep distress over Kanayo’s statements.
“We hold sacred the terms of any contract we enter into and are fully committed to fulfilling all lawful obligations,” Juliet stated in the statement.
“We categorically deny the slanderous accusations made by Mr. Kanayo. We have not engaged in any behavior as described and are deeply hurt by these baseless allegations.”

The legal action seeks to address the alleged defamation and uphold their professional integrity in the entertainment industry.
As the situation unfolds, Angel Unigwe’s family remains focused on resolving the dispute through legal channels, aiming to clear their name from what they perceive as damaging and unfounded claims.
Kanayo O. Kanayo has not publicly responded to the legal action at the time of this report. The developments highlight ongoing tensions within the Nigerian entertainment industry regarding contractual obligations and public statements made by prominent figures.
